Stoicism Exploration

A philosophy teaching virtue, reason, and self-control for a tranquil and meaningful life.

Stoicism is an ancient Greek school of philosophy founded by Zeno of Citium, emphasizing the development of self-control and fortitude as a means of overcoming destructive emotions. Its core tenets include living in accordance with nature and reason, recognizing what is within our control (our thoughts, judgments, and actions) and what is not (external events, the actions of others, our health).

This philosophy offers a practical framework for navigating life’s challenges with equanimity and wisdom. By focusing on inner virtue—such as justice, courage, temperance, and wisdom—and accepting external circumstances with resignation, Stoicism aims to cultivate inner peace (ataraxia) and a resilient spirit, making individuals less susceptible to the turmoil of fortune and more capable of living a fulfilling life.
